Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does Money Organizer work?
A: Money Organizer allows you to set up automatic transfers so you can have better
control over your day-to-day money management. Using three separate accounts, Money
Organizer allows you to pay bills from one account, use a separate account for everyday
spending, and grow your savings with another account. It's smart, efficient, and
easy!
Q: Do I have to set up Money Organizer on my own?
A: No. Once you create a preliminary budget using Citizens Bank's online Budget
Planner, you can bring the results to any participating Citizens Bank location*
or call
1-888-860-4700
and meet with a Banking Specialist. Together, you will review your budget and then
the Specialist will set up your accounts for you and explain how they work.
* Money Organizer is not available to every customer and is open to customers in
selected regions only. Money Organizer is a pilot arrangement and will be
under evaluation through the end of September 2009.
Q: Can I change the amount I regularly move to my Spend and Save accounts?
A: Yes, at anytime you can increase or lower the amount you want to put aside for
spending and saving. You can also add additional payees and automatic transfers
as well as additional direct deposits of income using Online Banking.
Q: How is overdraft protection under Money Organizer different than savings overdraft
protection?
A: With savings overdraft protection, funds are drawn from a savings account when
your checking account runs short. With Money Organizer, the Bills account has an
extra layer of protection. Should you run short in your Bills account, money will
automatically be drawn from your Spend account. Should your Spend account be unable
to cover your bills, money will automatically be drawn from your Save account. Paying
your bills is essential, and Money Organizer helps you make it a priority.
Q: Can I still deposit money directly into my Spend and Save accounts?
A: Yes. These accounts are just like any other checking and savings accounts opened
at Citizens Bank. However, it is recommended that you only deposit money into your
Bills account. Moving money to the Spend and Save accounts from the Bills account
gives you more control over how your money is spent and helps you meet your savings
goals.
Q: If I decide that Money Organizer is not for me, can I cancel it?
A: Absolutely. You may cancel your participation in Money Organizer at any time
without any penalty or fees. More details.
